Definitions

Beacon – an HTML-embedded object, often a tiny, one-pixel image, that is a virtually invisible tracking element

Domain – unique, human-readable address for a website which the Domain Name System (DNS) translates into a numerical IP address so computers can locate the correct server

IP – Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label such as 192.0.2.1 that is assigned to a device connected to a computer network

Telemetry – automated process of collecting and transmitting data from remote sources for monitoring and analysis

Tenet – a principle or belief, especially one of the main principles of a religion or philosophy

Tracker – a device that follows and records the movements of someone or something
